Cell differentiation: reading an image and its source
In brief
First locate a structure and determine whether the material actually shows it. Selecting a label should highlight the relevant area; an invisible detail needs a separate diagram. Before explaining why cells differ, record which cells were observed and how.

Follow plant, leaf, tissue, cell and chloroplast as separate reading levels. At two levels, record the actual highlighted structure, caption, scale, source and image type. Do not substitute epidermis for mesophyll or treat images of different specimens as one continuous zoom. If a detail is invisible, use a labelled diagram; the genetic explanation remains a separate question.
